§ 12-204. Investigation of application.

  • Upon receipt of an application properly filed with the health department and upon payment of the non-refundable application fee, the health department shall immediately stamp the application as received and shall immediately thereafter send a photocopy of the application to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office and the health department shall promptly conduct an investigation of the applicant and application in accordance with their respective responsibilities under Section 12-171 of this Code. At the conclusion of its investigation, the sheriff's office shall indicate on the photocopy of the application its approval or disapproval of the application, date it, sign it, and in the event it disapproves, state its reasons for doing so. After its indication of approval or disapproval, it shall immediately return the photocopy of the application to the health department.
