§ 6.05.031. Tree credits.

  • Any existing protected tree located on the subject private property with crown extending over the planned paved parking area, within the perimeter of interior landscaped areas, shall be eligible for credit against the number of protected trees required to be preserved on the site. During development activity preserved trees shall be protected by barriers from activities which may injure or kill them. Tree protection techniques found in the Tree Protection Manual for Builders and Developers, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, or equivalent techniques should be used. The following credit schedule may be applied for preserving existing trees on-site:

    Such credits shall be subject to approval of the county. Crown spread measurement shall be rounded off to the nearest foot, and the tree trunk diameter measurement shall be rounded off to the nearest whole inch. Diameter of a tree shall be measured at a height of four feet above the natural grade.

    A reduction of required parking spaces may be allowed by the County when the reduction would result in the preservation of a protected tree with a trunk of 12 inches in diameter or greater. The following reduction schedule shall apply:
