Article II. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS OFFICE |
§ 9-22. Intent and purpose.
(a)
It is the intent and purpose of this article to establish an office that will ensure the complete and efficient utilization of all the county resources to prepare for and combat disasters as defined herein and that will conform to the provisions of Chapter 252, Florida Statutes.
(b)
The disaster preparedness office will be the coordinating agency for all activity in connection with disaster planning and operations; it will be the instrument through which the county officials may exercise the authority and discharge the responsibilities vested in them in the Florida Disaster Preparedness Act of 1974 and this article.
(c)
This article will not relieve any county department of the moral responsibilities or authority given to it by state statutes, local resolutions and ordinances, nor will it adversely affect the work by any volunteer agency organized for relief in disaster emergencies.
