§ 6-520. Recovery of costs.

  • Whenever a building or structure is repaired or demolished in accordance with the provisions of this code and the cost of such repair or demolition is borne by the county, a bill for the cost of repair or demolition shall be forwarded to the owner of record at the address utilized by the tax collector for submitting ad valorem tax billings. The cost of said repair or demolition shall constitute a lien on the property and an affidavit of lien shall be filed 15 days after the mailing of the notice if the same is not paid within said period of time. The lien shall accrue interest at the statutory rate for judgments and a satisfaction of lien shall promptly be filed upon payment of the same.
