§ 17-106. Standards for numbering.

  • All principal buildings, mobile homes, commercial docks and piers in the unincorporated areas of Okaloosa County shall have their assigned building numbers or their current street addresses properly displayed, whether or not mail is delivered to such locations. Numbers need not be displayed on accessory buildings. Physical numbering shall conform to the following minimum standards:

    (1)

    Numbers must be clearly visible and legible, preferably reflective, from the public or private way on which the building fronts with Arabic numerals not less than three inches in height and one-half inch in width.

    (2)

    Numbers must be in a color contrasting to the building or other background.

    (3)

    Assigned numbers shall be displayed on the front entrance of each principal building, mobile home, commercial dock or pier and, in the case of a principal building which is occupied by more than one business or family dwelling unit, on each separate front entrance.

    (4)

    Any different numbers which might be mistaken for or confused with the number assigned in accordance with the numbering system shall be removed upon proper display of the assigned number.

    (5)

    Assigned numbers for principal buildings, mobile homes, commercial docks or piers, which are not visible from the public or private ways shall additionally be displayed at the intersection of the driveway and servicing street, and be attached to a post, wall, fence or mailbox at a level to ensure visibility.

    (6)

    Assigned numbers for commercial docks and piers shall additionally be displayed in such a fashion as not to be confused with channel or other marine markers at their waterward extremity.
