§ 17-103. Street names.

  • (a)

    Required. All public streets and private streets in Okaloosa County will be named.

    (b)

    New developments. In new developments (platted or unplatted), the developer will submit suggested street names to the county 9-1-1 office for approval. Name duplications will not be approved in the county. The developer of a new subdivision shall be required to submit four copies of a requested plat at a scale of one inch to 400 feet or one inch to 200 feet. All street names shall be approved by the 9-1-1 office prior to submittal to the county planning and inspection department.

    (c)

    Existing streets. Unnamed existing streets shall be named by the county 9-1-1 office and chosen from a list to be prepared commemorating local distinguished citizens, national heroes, indigenous trees, shrubs and flowers, etc., or based on a petition of the residents of such streets.
