§ 15-143. Certificates required.

  • (a)

    Every person or operator owning or acting as agent for the owner of any business or service which furnishes, operates, conducts, maintains, advertises, engages in, proposes to engage in, or professes to engage in the classification of advanced life support service, or the classification of non-emergency medical transportation service, or the classification of air medical transportation service, or the classification of advanced life support service/fire rescue, within the county shall first obtain a certificate of convenience and necessity as a classification of an advanced life support service, or a classification for non-emergency medical transportation service, or a classification for an air medical transportation service, or a classification of advanced life support service/fire rescue as is appropriate, prior to offering such services to the public. An air medical transportation and/or rescue service based outside of the county may pick up, and transport patients within or outside the county under the provisions of a mutual aid agreement acceptable to both parties. The application for such certificate or permit shall be on a form provided by the board and shall be in writing, signed and sworn by the applicant, and shall be filed with the board. The application shall provide proof that the applicant has met all appropriate requirements and obtained all appropriate certificates, licenses, and permits from the state as provided for by Chapter 401, Florida Statutes. The certificates required hereunder shall be in addition to all certificates, licenses, and permits required by Chapter 401.
