§ 11.5-52. Declaration of policy.

It is hereby declared to be the policy of the county, in the exercise of its police power for the public safety, public health, and general welfare, to support and encourage the initiatives which enhance the availability of and accessibility to affordable housing for all citizens of the county. For purposes of this article and the provisions contained herein, housing is considered affordable to the extent that the monthly cost of such housing does not exceed 30 percent of the gross monthly income of persons or families with incomes at or below 80 percent of the median income.
