§ 1. Definitions.

  • For the purpose of this ordinance, the definitions contained in this section shall apply unless otherwise specifically stated.

    (A)

    Annual special assessment. The term "annual special assessment" shall refer to the annual service charge special assessment imposed upon a parcel of real property located within the boundaries of the Baker Fire District for the applicable fiscal year to provide the funds to provide the annual municipal services to be provided during such fiscal year.

    (B)

    Benefit unit. The general term "benefit unit" shall refer to the Baker Fire District created under the provisions of this ordinance.

    (C)

    Board. The word "board" shall refer to the board of county commissioners of Okaloosa County, Florida.

    (D)

    Committee. The word "committee" shall refer to the Baker Fire District Advisory Committee established by this ordinance to manage and advise the board of county commissioners of the desires and progress of the projects within the benefit unit.

    (E)

    Clerk. The word "clerk" shall refer to the clerk of the circuit court of Okaloosa County, Florida.

    (F)

    Fiscal year. The term "fiscal year" refers to the fiscal year applicable to Okaloosa County government, such fiscal year beginning on the 1st day of October of each year and ending the 30th day of September of the next year.

    (G)

    Owner. The word "owner" refers to the person or persons owning an interest in real property located within the boundaries of the Baker Fire District.

    (H)

    Parcel. The word "parcel" shall be deemed to refer to each lot as designated on the recorded plats within the boundaries of the benefit unit. The word "parcel" shall not be deemed to refer to a parcel designation on the records maintained by the property appraiser or on the real property assessment roll in the event more than one (1) lot within said recorded plats are [is] included in such parcel designation on such records or on such assessment roll.

    (I)

    Person. The word "person" shall mean either an individual, firm, partnership, corporation, association, executor, administrator, trustee or other legal entity, whether singular or plural, masculine or feminine, as the context may require.

    (J)

    Project. The word "project" shall mean all fire fighting facilities and equipment, including all property, rights, easements and franchises related thereto and deemed necessary for the acquisition, construction, reconstruction, improvement, extension, enlargement, equipment, repair, operation or maintenance thereof.

    (K)

    Property appraiser. The title "property appraiser" refers to the property appraiser of Okaloosa County, Florida.

    (L)

    Tax collector. The title "tax collector" refers to the tax collector of Okaloosa County, Florida.
